KAIKŌURA, NEW ZEALAND

The tide people.

David Robinson, founder of OceanFun, grew up in Hawaii with tide calendars. Very young, he and his friends learned to predict surf conditions accurately on Oahu's reefs, based on tide, wind, and swell conditions. Plotted tide charts convey so much more information than the usual tide tables. Thousands of tide calendars are still printed and used in Hawaii, they are the go-to for tide information there.

OceanFun began in New Zealand in 1987 with the first Tide Times Calendar. What started as OceanFun Unlimited - a tide table and a good idea - became OceanFun Publishing, Limited. The first Tide Times pocketbook followed in 1991, and the graphic tide tables for newspapers followed shortly thereafter.

Everything we print starts with official tide data supplied by Land Information New Zealand. We don't guess, and we don't scrape. We take the official figures and redraw them the OceanFun way - graphic and readable.

Alongside the printed range we run TideSpy, our free online tide service, which covers New Zealand, the USA, and North Pacific areas.
